About the Authors: Ray Kurzweil is the author of several books on the subject of artificial intelligence, including The Age of Intelligent Machines, The Age of Spiritual Machines and The Singularity Is Near. Mr. Kurzweil was the principle inventor of several technologies, including the first CCD flatbed scanner and the first text-to-speech synthesizer. As a result of his work, he was awarded the 1999 National Medal of Technology and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
